old into new

"Old fades into the new..." Zero 7. I think this quote means that anything thats old can be turned into something new. Say you have a old pair of pants well you could patch them up and put something on them to make them look brand new again. You can always change something to make it seem newer just add something and fix it up a little. Also Old fashion from like the 60's is coming back and becoming cool. So that kinda means that old fades into new. Maybe I should take the quote so literally because maybe it doesn't mean old into new like redoing a pair of pants. Maybe it means something like recarnation. When someone is very old and they die some religous people think that they get "reborn" into a new person. So basically they come back to earth as someone else. They think that at the same time someone dies, a new baby is born. If I think of it in that way I guess I agree because the old does die off and becomes new again once they're reborn. If I believed in being "reborn" I think I would be born to being a guy because I'm a very guyish person.

conversation

"I often have long conversations all by myself, and I am so clear that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying." Oscar Wilde. I too sometimes have long conversations with myself. I Think you're thinking way to fast and in your head you're saying all these things you just get confused and don't understand anything that you're saying to yourself. Most of the time when people talk to themselves people think they're crazy which I think this person is. This quote is very interesting and I do agree that if and when I do talk to myself I don't understand what I say half the time. I just keep babbling on and on and I forget what I first said and so I get confused. Other times when I talk to myself I am so clear on what I am saying but I don't understand it at all.

Jesus

"Jesus said 'follow me' he did not say 'worship me,' and there's a difference" Pam Grout. I like this quote because I think Pam Grout is right. In the bible it doesn't say anywhere that Jesus said for people to worship him. All he wanted to do was help them out. He wanted to make their lives better. People do that all the time now-a-days but we don't end up worshiping them now do we. I bet Jesus didn't want any special attention I bet he was just trying to be a good person.

to be or not to be

"To be or not to be that is the question" Shakespeare. I think this quote is about hesitation. Like the person can either choose to be someone or something or not to do it at all. Most people in their lifetimes ask themselves if they want to become something or do something or do they want to just forget about it and live their life the way they are. I've had to ask myself that question before and I chose to be instead of the not to be. It worked out well for me too. I think if people didn't have to ask themselves that question then they're just flying by life without stopping and thinking. I think people should ask themselves that question at least five times through out their life time. William Shakespeare was a brillant man. He did so much for our society. Every play has something that William Shakespeare did first. This is probably his most famous quote.

Clothes

"Clothes make the man. Naked people have very little or no influence on society." Mark Twain. Mark twain is saying that people who wear the most expensive clothes and have he best things have a lot of influence. If a person was wearing jeans with tons of wholes in it and a shirt that has tons of wholes and he went into a job interview no one would higher him because from first expression he's not dressed well enough. When people dress fancy and you meet them for the first time you have a great first impression. If they're wearing a suit then most people would think the person was important and had a high paying job. If the president didn't wear any clothes then no one would listen to him because no one would take him serious. But with clothes people at least listen they might not agree but they listen.

Orbitz

"Who are you calling a cutie queen, you lint licker?" Orbitz commercial. This commercial is the best ever. When I first saw it I didn't understand it but the second time I watched it I laughed so hard. I love the accent of the secretary. It's like southern and funny. It's suppose to be instead of swearing the characters are using other words to express their feelings. Can u imagine if someone actually licked lint how bad it would taste? This commercial is when the wife walks in and sees her husband with the secretary and is disgusted at both of them. I wonder what a cutie queen is but I think it's a person that has a lot of cuties.

self-importance

"I am filled with self-importance right now." Deus (as John Derbyfield). This movie was pretty funny. When Deus said this I laughed very hard. I think it's weird that he had to say this when normally people don't come out and say I'm filled with self importance right now. Most people wouldn't say that at least not that I've met. Maybe when we read the book I'll understand it more because maybe John Derbyfield talks to him self a lot I don't know. What I do know is that Deus did a great job acting and this a quote that stood out to me because it was odd but funny.

dinosaurs

"I always thought I was an herbivore trapped in a Carnivore's body."Cross eater on Dinosaurs. I think this quote means that they wanted to only eat plants but they also liked eating meat which is a carnivore, or they only like to eat plants and things but they are in a human body which is normally a carnivore. This quote is confusing to me but I think it's like talking about vegitarians who are still in a human body. Humans were made to be carnivore's I think but recently humans have changed to herbivores because they don't like meat. To me this person doesn't know if he or she is a herbivore or a carnivore because they sounds like they are a herbivore but never realized it until now so they ate meat still.

cab drivers

"Cab drivers are living proof that practice does not make perfect." Howard Ogden. I think this quote is really funny. I have an aunt and an uncle, who are cab drivers, and they are the worst drivers ever.People say that practice makes perfect so why aren't the cab drivers perfect at driving? It's because people can never be perfect at anything. There's always something new that comes up while driving so the cab drivers can't be perfect at it. If cab drivers were perfect at driver then my aunt and uncle would never be getting tickets. If cab drivers were perfect then everyone would want to be driven by them because they would be perfect at driving and the people wouldn't be. Also if cab drivers were so perfect at anything they would never have any car issues or or accidents. Ya right I've seen alot of cab drivers get into accidents because they were careless and didn't watch for other cars.

books

"There are few books that are as dull as their readers." Thordeau. Thordeau is saying that most books are interesting and aren't dull at all. He's saying that the readers are the dull ones and only read the books that they like. If the reader is dull then he or she would probably like to read only dull books. Most books aren't dull, they always have something to them that make them interesting it's just do the people who are reading it see it. People make books dull by not reading into it. I think high school kids make books dull because they are forced into reading when they don't want to be. I bet they would think the books were more interesting if they read them on their own time. There are some books that aren't worth reading but most books have reviews that you can tell if its worth your time to read.
